Aimed at imparting people the much needed digital knowledge and information of government schemes, Samajwadi Smartphone Scheme recently came into limelight for being the biggest move taken by a state government towards bringing digitization in a state. The scheme was officially launched on October 10, 2016 by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav with a dream vision to bridge the digital gap in Uttar Pradesh.
The registrations for the same were to be close by 25th November 2016.

Samajwadi Smartphone Registration Date Extended!
“We have crossed 10 million registration mark for the Samajwadi Smartphone Scheme. Of these 96 percent applicants are youths between the age group of 18-24 years.”

With more than 10 million people applying for a free smartphone under the scheme, the state government has decided to extend its deadline to December 31, 2016. Applicants are required to submit documents that prove their age to be at least 18 years as on January 1, 2017 and also provide documents to prove that their annual family income is less than Rs 6 lakhs. All the applicants are required to be residents of Uttar Pradesh and they have to submit a phone number, either their own or one of their family member’s.
The initial deadline for registration was November 10, which was extended to November 25 and now the government has decided to keep the registration open till December end.
