No state can progress without the growth of its people and Uttar Pradesh is no different. Led by young chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, the state government have been working in unison to change the phase of Uttar Pradesh. The numbers are changing and the scale is showing in favour of the state.
A recent report of industry body ASSOCHAM has stated that UP is poised for double digit growth with the state’s GDP rate of 8.12% being much higher than the national average growth rate of 6.9%.
The state’s schemes for public welfare have borne fruit and the state is prospering along with its people. The state has bagged the ‘Best State Award’ for skill development organised by ASSOCHAM.
Not only this, Uttar Pradesh has swiftly emerged as focal point for all IT/ITeS services including that of software, electronics and BPOs. Many prominent industry players have their offices and R&D centres in the state. It is also a leading producer of a host of agri and poultry matter, making it a rich source of raw material. Amongst the most recent development is the lately released list of 98 cities that would be developed into smart cities includes 13 cities from Uttar Pradesh.
Here are some other major milestones achieved by the state:
Energising the State
The state government’s solar power policy 2013, UP rooftop solar photovoltaic power plant policy 2014 have encouraged people and businesses to install electricity-generating solar panels on rooftops of houses and commercial buildings. UPNEDA acts as a single window clearance agency for solar power projects in the state and has been offering solar panels at a subsidized rate.
Sowing the seeds of growth
No country or state can progress and flourish without its farmers. Understanding the power for agriculture and farmers, Akhilesh Yadav government has been a pro-farmer government. The Samajwadi Party government has also declared the last two years as Kisan Varsh and during that period, they have announced several pro-farmer schemes.
To give a boost to the economy of the state, Lucknow Metro and Agra Lucknow Expressway have been constructed which will get operational in a couple of months. The government has connected four lane district headquarters that has paved the way for the welfare of commuters. Uttar Pradesh Government has generated enough resources to not only build roads but also make them accident free zones. Special care has been taken to minimise the accidents, in order to prevent fatality rate at Noida Expressway.
Aid for Senior Citizens
The state plans to start old age homes under PPP model from this financial year. The state government also plans to give pension to senior citizens and provide medical treatment in case of hospitalization. The UP government’s Samajwadi Shravan Yatra has provided senior citizens an opportunity to visit pilgrimage sites like Haridwar, Rishikesh, Ajmer Sharif, Pushkar, Rameshwaram, Tirupati, Konark Temple, Shirdi, Trimbakeshwar, Shani Shignapur, Nageshwar, Maha Kaleshwar, Ujjain, Varanasi, Dwarka, Somnath and Golden Temple.
Government has set up Kaamdhenu, Mini Kaamdhenu and Micro Kaamdhenu units to give boost to farmers. Under the project, 300 units of 100 cattle each, 1500 units of 50 cattle each in mini-kaamdhenu and 2500 units of 25 cattle each have been established.
Akhilesh Yadav government has digitized public departments and vitalized the existing ones under different e-schemes. His government introduced a smartphone health app namely ‘M-Sehat’ across all districts to track state’s health services accurately. Apart from these, Modernization of Police Force, Employment Portal sewayojan.up.nic.in, UP Police Lost report application, Boost Your Business initiative, Integrated Grievance Redressal System, web portal UP News 360, Shakti 1090 mobile application to improve law and order, are working smoothly for which the state has special office, personnel and automobiles available for the speedy settlement.
