Uttar Pradesh is known for its diversity and it always has something for everyone. The state has established itself in almost every field, be it Politics, Education, Research, Technology, Culture, Art and Environment. Keeping these fields aside, the state has got a special mention for being the ‘Best Film Friendly State’ during 63rd Filmfare Awards.
Now the days are not far when you will witness Hollywood stars like Angelina Jolie, Tom Cruise and James Bond shooting in Uttar Pradesh. The state’s film policy and the ease of shooting, both have attracted a lot of top Hollywood filmmakers to shoot in Uttar Pradesh.
The Way to Cannes
Uttar Pradesh’s film policy has generated a buzz on the foreign shores with the Uttar Pradesh Film Development Council promoting its cinema policy at the Cannes International Film Festival.
“Participating and showcasing Uttar Pradesh to a galaxy of Filmmakers from all over the world would be a unique opportunity for the state. We look forward to getting the best of world cinema to shoot in the diverse locales of our state. It would also be an opportunity to build up brand UP on a global platform as the next film destination of India.”

The state has recently made its debut at the pavilion to promote the state as a promising filming destination. A three-member team comprising Gaurav Dwivedi, along with members of UPFDC – Vishal Kapoor and Yashraj Singh have represented the state at the Cannes.
Attractive Film Policy
Uttar Pradesh Film Policy has been made more attractive with the addition of new features. After providing subsidy for Bollywood movies, Akhilesh Yadav government also announced subsidy to Hollywood movies shot in the state.
Judie Dench, famous for her portrayal as James Bond’s mentor will soon be shooting in Agra with Indian actor Ali Fazal for her next titled “Victoria and Abdullah”.
Gaurav Dwivedi has recently told that a meeting chaired by senior government officials was recently held giving a go-ahead to extend the subsidy to English movies shot in the state.
To promote and strengthen brand UP, Akhilesh Yadav government has already associated industry’s bigwigs with state projects. Vidya Balan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui are the brand ambassadors of Samajwadi Pension Yojna and Samajwadi Kisan Beema Yojna. Famous Bollywood actors like Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Huma Qureshi, Ajay Devgan and many others have recently met CM and lauded the state’s film policy.
