Akhilesh who is often called a people-friendly chief minister is known to reach out to the common man and extend every possible help in times of need and emergency. He deeply understands all the sections, genders and religions of the society and has been working for the overall development of all, equally.
UPCM Akhilesh Yadav recently revived his government scheme of providing financial assistance for the marriage of women from poor families. The scheme, which was discontinued in the past, has now been reintroduced with some modifications.
At the launch of the marriage scheme, ‘Putriyon Ki Shadi Hetu Anudan Yojana’, chief minister presented certificates to 10 beneficiaries at his official residence on Monday. He also gifted warm shawls, blankets and bed sheets to the families.
Revival of ‘Shadi Bimari Yojna’
The scheme named ‘Shadi Bimari Yojna’ was earlier launched by Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav during his previous stint as the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. The financial assistance for the previous scheme was Rs 10,000 for marriage of girls and Rs 5,000 for medical treatment. With the launch of new welfare schemes in the 2014-15 budget, the old scheme was discontinued to make way for new projects.
This financial year, the government decided to relaunch the scheme as ‘Putriyon Ki Shadi Hetu Anudan Yojana’. Now the state government has doubled the amount of financial assistance, making it Rs 20,000 for marriage and Rs 10,000 for medical aid.
The state government aims to accept 2 lakh applications this financial year, for which Rs 400 crore has been allocated. Since the scheme includes SC, ST, OBC, minority welfare as well as general category beneficiaries, various targets have been set for each community. The target is to reach about 60,500 SC beneficiaries, 650 ST, 77,000 OBC, 41,225 from the minority community and 20,625 from the general category.
Eligibility Criteria for ‘Putriyon Ki Shadi Hetu Anudan Yojana’
Eligible candidates can apply online for the ‘Shadi Anudan Scheme’ and the criteria for the same is as under:
- Candidates have to apply online for the registration of the scheme.
- Shadi Anudan Yojana Registration can be done online through Samaj Kalyan Vibhag http://sspy-up.gov.in/rapv/vivahhetuanudaan/
- The online registration of under this scheme can be made before and after 90 days of the marriage.
- The candidate has to submit Aadhar card, income certificate, photocopy of BPL card and the photocopy of bank passbook.
- The beneficiary girl candidate must be less than 18 years of age.
Under the scheme, preference would be given to widows, disabled, landless and victims of natural calamity.
