SP and BJP Manifestos in Contrast: Where do the Parties Stand?

12345

The Samajwadi Party and the Bhartiya Janta Party have released their election manifestos for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections 2017 and here’re the promises made by BJP Chief Amit Shah during the manifesto launch today in Lucknow:

Promise #1 Women Safety

BJP is raising the key poll issue i.e. the Women Safety in Uttar Pradesh, although the initiative 1090 Women Powerline, introduced by CM Akhilesh Yadav has already been applauded by foreign universities.

The Women Power Line 1090, an IVRS-based dedicated helpline for women, has helped resolve more than 6 lakh security issues of women in the past four years, according to senior police officials. And, the project is being studied by the University of Texas and Loyola University Chicago, for its “gender sensitive approach in dealing with harassment”.

Promise #2 Bundelkhand Special Initiatives

BJP Chief Amit Shah announced to launch special initiatives for Bundelkhand if they come to power. This is also similar to the packages already sent by Akhilesh Yadav government for Bundelkhand under which nearly 2.30 lakh families are given monthly free ration in the drought affected areas. CM Akhilesh had announced the extension of the relief package for the drought hit areas through which ‘Samajwadi Drought Relief Ration Material’ supply is being done in addition to the regular Public Distribution System (PDS) of grains for Antyodaya families.

Promise #3 Start Up Capital Fund

BJP, in their party manifesto emphasised on promoting start up culture in the state and raising funds for the same if they come to power.

On the other hand, Akhilesh Yadav government has finalized its own start-up policy to promote the ‘start-up culture’ and entrepreneurship in the state. In the coming years, the state will launch new start-up schemes including market linkages, infrastructure and loans would be available at low interest rates. The Akhilesh Yadav government would promote start-ups through the INFUSE model (Incubators-Fund of Funds-Start-up entrepreneurs), wherein it would provide financial support to incubators, start-ups and venture capitalists.

Promise #4 Employment Generation

BJP has promised to give 90 percent of jobs to the youth of the state, which doesn’t even seem to be a real promise, as India is under a jobless growth since Narendra Modi came to power.

However, Uttar Pradesh under the leadership of Akhilesh Yadav has been awarded by the Government of India ‘Best State across India in Skill Development Mission’. In the coming times, the Akhilesh Yadav government would focus more on this platform and enhance the number of beneficiaries or skilled manpower under the mission.

Promise #5 Laptop Distribution

When Akhilesh Yadav distributed laptops to students, then Bhartiya Janta Party criticised the Akhilesh government. But now, when #UPPolls are just a fortnight away, they have promised to distribute laptops. Samajwadi Party government has already distributed 15 lakh laptops to bridge the digital divide in the state.

Going by the current trends, Modi government could not compete with the development man Akhilesh Yadav, as BJP has no development to show in the state. We will be covering the polls in detail. Stay connected!
