India is experiencing maximum day temperatures higher than normal in most parts of the country especially in North, West and Central India.
Uttar Pradesh Government, with an aim to change the face of bus terminals has started Samajwadi water ATM Scheme – “Samajwadi Shudh Payjal Yojna” at bus stands. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister has started this scheme last year for the benefit of people, which aims to provide portable water to the passengers at a reasonable cost.
With the rise in temperature in India, water ATMs are a great relief for travellers and people, that ensure 24×7 access to safe drinking water. The idea is to create unmanned water kiosks at multiple convenient locations – especially bus and railway stations to avoid long queues.
Water ATMs at more than 100 bus stands
Water ATMs have been installed by the state government at most of the bus stations, which provide portable water at the rate of Rs 1/- per litre and cold water at rate of Rs 2/- per litre. The facility has been installed at Charbagh Railway Station of Lucknow and other 100 bus stands of the state.
Government of Uttar Pradesh is committed for the welfare of people and therefore wants cold water to be made available to people at very cheap rate.
Samajwadi Luxury Bus Service at cheaper rates
With water ATMs, Government of Uttar Pradesh also launched affordable bus service ‘Lohia Gramin Bus Seva’, with 25 per cent lower bus fares. This scheme provides connectivity at affordable fare between cities and rural areas where no means of public transport was available. CM Akhilesh Yadav along with water ATMs also launched 149 self-operating inquiry services and super luxury air-conditioned bus service last year.
Laying emphasis on the need to expand these services to more unconnected parts of the state, Akhilesh also launched four luxury buses manufactured by Swedish manufacturer Scania. To be run by the UP State Road Transport Corporation, two of the four super luxury coaches will ply on the Lucknow-New Delhi route, while remaining two will serve on the Agra-Lucknow and Lucknow-Gorakhpur routes.
Uttar Hamara feels that the state is galloping on the path of development as Samajwadi Party government is committed for the welfare of masses.
