Happiness of the people had no bounds during Akhilesh’s visit to Hamirpur more so when CM announced and inaugurated several big development projects including five new overbridges. He inaugurated two railway overbridges, two river overbridges at Banda worth Rs 160 crores; one bridge over Noon river in Jalaun and another one at Bilraya Panwadi of worth Rs 6.80 crores constructed by Setu Nigam.

CM also flagged off UP-100 service in the various regions of Bundelkhand such as Mahoba, Hamirpur, Banda, Jalaun. He inaugurated the service in Eastern UP including Faizabad, Gonda, Basti, Deoria, Azamgarh and Mirzapur and in Western UP including Noida, Saharanpur, Aligarh, Budaon, Etah, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etawah and Kannauj.
Special initiatives have been taken by Akhilesh Yadav government for Bundelkhand in the past five years. He has been the only chief minister to visit the region from time to time and grant relief funds and implement a Food Security Act. Under this act, free ration has been distributed to at least 2.30 lakh families in all seven districts of Bundelkhand. The other major welfare schemes include rejuvenating the old ponds under Samajwadi Jal Sanchay Yojna and special budgetary allocations:
- Increasing the fund size of special projects for Bundelkhand from Rs 71.50 crores to Rs 200 crores and making special arrangements for potable water.
- A provision of Rs 150 crore for multi- purpose irrigation project on Betwa River in Jhansi.
- Rs 2 crores for tankers to provide potable water in the region.
- Special efforts have been made to address the issues confronting the area spread over seven districts – Banda, Chitrakoot, Mahoba, Hamirpur, Jhansi, Jalaun and Lalitpur.
- A special grant of Rs 40 crore for installation of new hand pumps in the region.
Akhilesh government also installed eco-friendly solar power plants in the areas of Lalitpur, Jhansi and Jalaun which has successfully electrified this region.
