After hosting a series of successful events and outreach activities in Kannauj, Kanpur, Allahabad and Varanasi, Facebook’s ‘Boost Your Business’ program – an initiative mooted by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has now reached Lucknow.
- To ensure monetary and medical relief including re-constructive surgeries to women who are victims of violence and also for educational assistance, minor children of such victims are also given educational and medical assistance when required.
- To provide assistance for women/girl child who may not be direct victims of violence but require critical social and economic empowerment.
With a view to take societal action against the perpetrators of acid attacks on women, Rani Laxmi Bai Mahila Samman Kosh was constituted by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, in a short span of time, to empower women and promote their economic self-reliance. Arrangements have been made for providing financial help to the victims of crimes against women and facility for their treatment.
With International Women’s Day being celebrated across the world, the acid attack survivors are felicitated and provided financial assistance today in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has honoured around 86 women with the Rani Laxmi Bai award at his official residence. Usha Vishwakarma of the Red Brigade, who has been working for the welfare of women by imparting self-defence training on a large scale, a seven-year-old sightless Muslim girl Rida Zehra, who knows the Bhagwad Gita by heart, Organisation Vatsalya, led by Dr Neelam Singh, Nidhi Tiwari for driving from Delhi to London via jeep, 4 French scholars who travelled across UP via auto, Veerta Puruskar to Bharti Gandhi for being a dedicated academician and mountaineer Arunima Sinha to climb the highest peaks on all continents, 40 acid attack survivors and a few gram pradhans are also honoured on the occasion.
A special eating joint ”Cafe Sheroes”, to be run by acid attack survivors, is also inaugurated in the city today. In addition, Asha Jyoti Centres in 11 districts and 181 helpline are also launched today along with the rescue vans associated with the centres. Among the highlights of the day is a cycle rally in which women from across the state participated. CM Akhilesh Yadav flagged it off from his residence and culminated at Lohia Park of Lucknow. CM Akhilesh Yadav concluded the event by congratulating all awardees and ensured dedicated steps towards women empowerment.
