Our person of the week is Shapath Bharadwaj from Meerut who created history by qualifying for Senior National Shooting Team at the tender age of 14. He is now going to represent India in World Cup tournaments to be held in Delhi, Mexico and Cyprus.
Double trap junior shooter Shapath has already brought laurels to the country by winning Gold (Individual) and Gold (Team) in 13 International Grand Prix held in Porpetto of Italy in the last week of July this year. He scored his career best 139/150 in the Grand Prix and defeated world champion Eraldo Apollini in his home ground.
He also won a Silver (Team) in the 8th International Shotgun Cup in Finland in June this year and received appreciation for his performance in ISSF Junior World Cup held in Suhl of Germany in May this year.
Admiring his coach Yogendra Pal Singh’s guidance, Shapath says, “I simply follow the technique taught by my coach.”
Uttar Hamara salutes Shapath for creating world history at such a small age!
