UP Government to award subsidy to 21 films today

Movies like Masaan, Thoda Ishq Thoda Lutf, Bandhan, Jai Jawan Jai Kisan, Majazae-gum-e-dil Kya Karun and Hum Hain Jodi No. 1, are among the 21 films that will be awarded cheques for subsidy by UP CM Akhilesh Yadav today at a ceremony specially organised for the same. Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, who has produced Masaan, is also expected to be present to receive the cheque that will be given at noon today at the Lok Bhawan. While Masaan has been given a subsidy of 2 crore rupees, Bhoorie is being awarded a subsidy of 64 lakhs (approx). Jigariya and Jodi No. 1 will be awarded a subsidy of 54 lakh and 14 lakh rupees, respectively .Also, Miss Tanakpur will be given a subsidy of 37.22 lakh rupees while Direct Ishq will get 46.44 lakh rupees.

Gaurav Dwivedi, vice chairman, Uttar Pradesh Film Development Council (UPFDC), informs, “ After they met all the criteria laid down for the eligibility for the subsidy of the state government’s film policy , we have selected these 21 films to be given subsidy this time. All the films have been shot in UP .“ He further adds, “We are commit ted to create a film-friendly environment in UP and get the best talent from all over the world to come and realise their celluloid dreams in our state. We will be giving more subsidies to films that meet our norms and that are made in the state.“ Films like Nil Battey Sannata, Aligarh, Babumoshai Bandookbaaz, JD and Jolly LLB 2 have also been cleared by the script committee of the Film Bandhu. Interestingly, the CM will also lay the foundation stone of the state’s Film and Television Institute to be established in Lucknow today . Former Chief Secretary of the state Alok Ranjan will be the chairman of the institute.
