Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav drew impressive crowds in Azamgarh, the biggest district in Poorvanchal or eastern Uttar Pradesh with 10 seats, which has not had a glimpse of its Lok Sabha member Mulayam Singh Yadav or Prime Minister Narendra Modi during this election campaign.
The CM addressed seven back-toback rallies in Azamgarh on Tuesday, covering all of its 10 constituencies. Samajwadi Party had won nine of these 10 seats in 2012 and lost one to BSP, which was in the second position on all the other seats. In 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Azamgarh was the only seat the SP could win in Poorvanchal amid the Modi wave.
“I want all 10 seats this time. Modi has already admitted defeat here as he skipped Azamgarh for a rally and did one in Mau. Aap se to PM ne pehle hi kinara kar liya (PM has bypassed you already),” Akhilesh Yadav said in Phulpur Pawai.
