Uttar Pradesh chief minister, Akhilesh Yadav, inaugurated 21 infrastructure projects located in areas governed by the three authorities of Gautam Budh Nagar-Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway—on Wednesday. The ceremony took place virtually via video-conferencing from Lucknow and was beamed live to three locations in Noida. The most important amongst the projects was the long awaited city bus service delayed for more than three years, which was flagged off by the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) chief, Santosh Yadav in Noida. Twenty of the 50 buses were flagged off from the Botanic Garden bus station after the CM pressed the inauguration button from Lucknow.
According to officials, the rest of the thirty buses will be incorporated into operations by the end of the month. “Initially we have launched 20 buses as the registration of the buses is still being carried out,” Santosh Yadav told TOI. “These buses will operate across three routes including one for Noida (300 series), one for Greater Noida (200 series), one connecting Noida and Greater Noida (100 series) and one Metro feeder (M series). The balance three routes will be introduced by the end of the month when all 50 air-conditioned buses will be in operation,” he explained.
