“Tourism will be accorded the status of industry and all facilities will be extended to this sector to make the visit to Uttar Pradesh a pleasant experience for tourists.”
~ Akhilesh Yadav, Chief Minister Uttar Pradesh
After a lion safari, a Bollywood festival, tourist complex, and a medical college, the magic of one of the most extravagant Hindi movies Mughal-e-Azam will soon be recreated in Etawah, as Uttar Pradesh government has decided to take a leap in tourism by setting up a theme park based upon this epic movie.
The theme park would be dedicated to the great filmmaker Karimuddin Asif and his classic movie – Mughal-e-Azam. Located near the Lion Safari in Etawah, the theme park will have galleries dedicated to the filmmaker and his films.
Theme Park to be Developed as a Tourist Spot
Aiming to attract tourists from different parts of the world, Akhilesh Yadav government has decided to make this park for tourists visiting Etawah. The chief minister has asked tourism department to take necessary steps with regard to this project.
A Tribute to K Asif
The contribution made by K Asif to Indian cinema has been absolutely enormous. His epic film Mughal-e-Azam is an institution in itself and a landmark which continued to influence generations of filmmakers.
Etawah’s theme park would also be a tribute to legendary film-maker K Asif who hailed from Etawah, and his contributions to cinema. Karimuddin Asif was born to Dr. Fazal Karim and Bibi Ghulam Fatima in Katra Purdal Khan situated on Etawah-Bareilly highway in 1922. He, then moved to Mumbai to make a career in films. Mehfooz Ali, a resident of Katra Purdal Khan says,
“It is a fine tribute to the imagination, hard work and lavishness of the maker of Mughal-e-Azam. We are happy that our dream will now be fulfilled.”
An Invitation to Key Characters of the Movie
The state government is planning to invite key characters of the movie, who are still alive, to take part in the laying of the foundation stone of the project.
Uttar Hamara believes that the theme park would increase the tourist footfall in the region and also make people more aware about the legendary filmmaker who belongs to Etawah!
