 With a vision to bridge the digital divide in Rural UP, Akhilesh government has announced ‘Free Mobile Phone Scheme’ in their Party manifesto for 2017 elections. The scheme has been officially launched on October 10, 2016 to build a two-way communication between the government and people, and take direct feedback on government schemes.

Under this flagship scheme of Samajwadi Party Government, all the BPL (Below Poverty Line) families will receive a free smartphone.

 

Bringing Digital Revolution in the State

Samajwadi Party government under the dynamic leadership of Akhilesh Yadav have been running many popular schemes like Kanya Vidya Dhan, Samajwadi Pension Yojna and Lohia Awas Yojna. Free Smartphone Scheme would be most popular scheme of the state.

The first step towards creating a digital revolution in Uttar Pradesh was taken in 2012, when Chief Minister distributed free laptops to meritorious students across rural and urban UP.

Now the Smartphone Scheme would provide an easy medium to the residents of the state to avail benefits of various schemes of state government. The smartphone will have a detailed app through which all the information about state government will be provided to people by using audio-visual texts.

 

Samajwadi Smartphone Yojna

Samajwadi Smartphone Scheme is for those people who are below poverty line and have annual income less than 2 lakhs per year. The online registration for the scheme has been started and is being provided on first come, first serve basis. The government employees and their wards are not eligible for this scheme.
The details to avail ‘Samajwadi Smartphone Scheme’ are as under:

  1. Applicant should be a resident of Uttar Pradesh.
  2. Applicant should be minimum 18 years of age as on January 01, 2017.
  3. Minimum educational qualification should be High School.
  4. Applicant or his/her guardian should not be government employee of Grade-I and Grade-II.
  5. Annual income of the family should be less than INR 6 lakhs.
  6. The applicants would be asked to attach a scanned copy of their high-school certificates with the application.
  7. Last date to apply for the scheme is November 10, 2016.

The Smartphone will have special application for students and job seekers about the study material, exam results and current job openings. Beneficial information for farmers, villagers, unemployed, students and small traders would be provided through special apps.
