Akhilesh is engineering graduate from a Mysore college . He broke his nose playing rightout at his Mysore engineering college.
During his Mysore days , he used to have tea in a nearby tea stall daily where a tea vendor Chandu taught him Kannad. Akhilesh also gave a small speech in kannad in his college.
Akhilesh roamed the streets of the Mysore City between 1990 and 1994 in his modest Gypsy jeep, with DBB 11 registration number.
During college, he shared a small house with three friends in the suburbs.
In his college days, he was fond of “Mysore Pak,” tees and loose-fitting trousers.
He was not much interested in politics during his college days. He was a very happy-to-go-lucky person. He loved to watch movies and was a die-hard fan of Amitabh Bachchan and loved Mohammad Rafi songs.
When Akhilesh used to study in Australia, Amitabh Bachchan went there for an event. Akhilesh Yadav went to meet Amitabh Bachchan and his pictures with him got published in next day’s newspaper. When Akhilesh’s landlord saw that photograph, he didn’t believe that he was the son of India’s Defense minister and Amitabh Bachchan was his father’s friend.
Akhilesh and Dimple were married on 24th November 1999. Akhilesh seems to wear his heart on his sleeve when it comes to his winsome wife. He is variously quoted to have declared his love for her and has even said that "shaadi hote hi kismat khul gayi
Akhilesh traveled about 10,000 km and held 800 rallies in UP over span of six months. This lead to his victory in UP Election 2012.
