Roads are vital in linking producers to markets, workers to jobs, students to school, and the sick to hospitals; roads are important to any development agenda. Since 2012, Akhilesh Yadav Government in Uttar Pradesh has constructed a huge network of roads.
Recently, the Chief Minister has issued instructions to expedite work on four-lane connectivity of district headquarters. He also issued instructions to complete the bridges being made on important rivers at all costs in the current financial year.
Timeline to Complete the Project
Akhilesh Yadav has directed the state officials to complete to ensure that Chitrakoot is connected to four-lane roads by November 2016, Deoria by October 2016, Balrampur by December 2016, Lakhimpur Kheri, Hardoi and Gonda by March 2017.
During the review of long bridges, the Chief Minister instructed that the bridges being constructed on Ganga river in Varanasi/Ghanapur Chania road on Balua Ghat should be completed by August 2016. He also issued instructions to complete the bridge on Ganga river in Varanasi district/ghat at Ramnagar Marg in front of the entry gate of Banaras Hindu University by October 2016. Directions to complete the construction of bridges in Ghazipur, Bahraich, Mirzapur, Firozabad and Ballia were also given.
Officials also apprised the Chief Minister that National Highways Authority of India would connect Banda and other districts by October 2016 and Sonbhadra would be connected to district headquarters by Uttar Pradesh State Highways Authority.
Other than this, Varanasi-Shaktinagar road would also be inaugurated soon.
Akhilesh Yadav Seeks Aid for Pending Issues
CM Akhilesh Yadav has written a letter to all Members of Parliament seeking their support to resolve issues of the state with Central Government about transport and speeding up of work to connect the district headquarters with four-lane and two-lane roads by National Highway Authority of India.
