Founded on the principles of socialism, Samajwadi Party’s ideology believes in creating a secular and democratic society. The party gives immense importance to the development of common man and thus adopted the vehicle of the common man – a bicycle as its symbol.
Organized at the national, state, zila and municipal level across the country, Samajwadi Party came into existence on October 4, 1992 in Lucknow under the leadership of Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav. In these decades, Samajwadi Party has come to power in Uttar Pradesh thrice in 1993, 2003 and 2012 and has tried to bring development and prosperity in the state. On 15 March 2012, Mulayam Singh’s son Shri Akhilesh Yadav at the age of 38 became the youngest Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. Akhilesh Yadav came to political front for the first time when he was elected as a member of the Lok Sabha in Kannauj in 2000.
Shri Ram Manohar Lohia, a freedom fighter, socialist and a great Parliamentarian is a guiding star for Samajwadi Party. His selfless struggle for Indian Independence is an inspiring factor for the leaders of Samajwadi Party.
The biggest strength of Samajwadi Party is working on the grassroot level for social development. Samajwadi Party under Akhilesh Yadav’s reign has proved to be an omen for the upliftment of weaker sections especially women. Uttar Pradesh’s development agenda includes reforms in power sector, education, health, uplift of working youth, social security, rural and urban developments along with the efforts for making the governance efficient and effective. The major achievements of Uttar Pradesh government includes – Lucknow Metro, Agra Lucknow Expressway, Samajwadi Pension Yojna, 1090 Women Powerline, IT City, Free Laptop distribution Scheme, Kamdhenu and Mini-Kamdhenu Dairy Scheme, Free Irrigation Scheme, Kanya Vidya Dhan, Lohia Gramin Awas Yojna, Four Lane Roads, 108 and 102 Ambulance Sewa, Cancer Institute, UP NRI Department, 1880 Helpline for Journalists and many more.
Uttar Pradesh Government under Akhilesh Yadav’s leadership has laid down the path for the permanent development of Uttar Pradesh.
