Good transportation systems are lifeline to the area they serve, and a good road network helps in the success of development activities, be it in the sphere of movement of people and goods, agriculture, commerce, education, health, and social welfare or even maintenance of law and order and security.
To keep pace with the forthcoming economic development in the state, Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) is all set to complete the country’s largest Greenfield Expressway – Agra Lucknow Expressway on Public-Private Partnership model. UPEIDA is acting as a Nodal Agency for the project.
Recently, the government of Uttar Pradesh has directed the construction agency to complete the remaining work of the country’s largest Greenfield Expressway in the next 40 days. The government has also instructed to plant 5 lakh saplings along the course of the expressway from Lucknow to Agra.
New Establishments on E-Way
Soon the expressway will have a State-of-the-Art traffic management system, for which Uttar Pradesh Cabinet is likely to install the most advanced system to manage traffic on the way. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav will soon pass the proposals for leasing out of tourism department’s hotels and motels to private operators; setting up of a state university in Ballia; a skill development institute in Lucknow and increasing production capacity of sugar mills etc.
Considering the rising number of road accidents on the expressways, the government will establish advanced traffic management system to check accidents, besides opening up trauma centres with adequate availability of medical ambulances and proper signages. Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority will hire an international consultant for this system after the cabinet grants an approval for it.
An Expressway with Brilliant Land Acquisition Method
The expressway has been made on minimum distance and minimal agricultural formula. UPEIDA purchased almost 3127 hectares of land without a murmur of dissent and paid four times the circle rates (CR) to the land owners in rural areas and twice the CR in urban parts, as purchase cost. The expressway sends a message of about the unique process of land acquisition which did not see a single protest at a time.
The Expressway carries all public amenities viz. under passes, service roads, provision for green belt, rest houses, petrol pumps, service centres, restaurants and four agricultural mandis for milk, potatoes, grains, fruits and vegetables.
The Expressway to have a Grand Launch
The 302 km long Agra Lucknow expressway work which is nearing completion, is set for a grand launch with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav planning to drive down the highway along with Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan and other stars.
Uttar Hamara believes that the tourists will love the convenience of this new road and those who have made the trip on the older route will appreciate the difference for sure!
