Chemistry and 4 P’s of Akhilesh-Rahul Alliance

1 (2)

Samajwadi Party-Congress alliance is making the biggest and the boldest headlines across the nation. The two youth icons in Indian Politics have come together to change the history of country’s most populous state, Uttar Pradesh. Akhilesh Yadav, the current UPCM and SP Party President; and Congress Vice President, Rahul Gandhi delivered their first joint conference in Lucknow on 29th January. The two energetic leaders could be seen like brother-in-arms sharing a great chemistry, both on-stage and off-stage. They greeted each other with a warm hug, wore similar outfits, and even spoke in one voice.

The crucial Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections are barely two weeks away and the campaigns are being rolled out in full swing. The two leaders have projected this alliance as the one that stands for 3 Ps-Peace, Progress, and Prosperity. UPCM Akhilesh Yadav added the most important P to the series; which stands for People. The two seemed to be having an easy interaction and pleasantly accommodated each others views, both at the conference and at the rally, which took them through the city.

In a country, which is seeking change from the age-old representation, the two young leaders could be clearly seen supporting each other. Akhilesh Yadav, also known as the People’s CM and a veteran politician, knew every journalist present, by name. He exuded confidence, bantered with some, and differed with others, but all this with his trademark smile. He said, “All the journalists here know my government has performed. Nobody can say the Samajwadis haven’t worked. I can say on the issue of roads, the speed with which the Lucknow-Agra expressway was built is an example for the rest of the country to follow. Nowhere in India has a metro been built with the speed that it has in Lucknow. The new Dial 100 service of UP Police is in keeping with the best policing standards in the world. Other parties are forced to say they will do it even better. The people believe there has been development. And that is why I have said, kaam bolta hai, work speaks for itself. It took me courage to say that, but I wanted to keep my work before you.”

They both faced the questions thrown at them from the crowd, hand in hand.

Here’s a short snippet:

On Rae Bareilly and Amethi where the Congress is insisting on more seats in the Assembly segments:

Rahul Gandhi: This is a peripheral issue. Central issue is our resolve to change UP. To defeat the BJP and the fascist forces.

On Mulayam Singh and Sonia Gandhi

Akhilesh Yadav: We have their blessings.

On 2019 polls together:

Akhilesh Yadav: We have not thought that far. We have just completed this alliance.

On Priyanka Gandhi:

Rahul Gandhi: she is my sister, and it is up to her to decide whether she wants to campaign or not.

On differences:

Both: We have come together on similarities.

And to take this forward, Rahul Gandhi commented on the alliance being like the meeting of the Yamuna and Ganga rivers in Sangam in Allahabad. Which further strengthens the fact, that they believe in this union to be holy and pure. The small gestures made by the two, were indeed amicable to watch.

The city was swarmed with throbbing crowds which cheered, “UP ko Yeh Saath Pasand Hai” as the rally passed through the city.

This has also been reflected in the recent ABP News Opinion Poll conducted yesterday. According to which, having resolved its internal differences and allied with the Congress for the upcoming election, the SP seems all set to form the next government in country’s largest state.

‘UP Ko Yeh Saath definitely Pasand Hai’
