Late Sunday evening, police arrested three persons and six family members who were in the car had identified them, Raheesudeen of Sutari village in Bulandshahr, Shahwaiz of Hapur district and Jabar Singh of Gautam Budh Nagar district. “Identities and roles of four others are being verified,” Meerut DIG Laxmi Singh said.
Shahwaiz and Jabar Singh have previous cases of looting against them, police said. Sutari village is around 7 km from Dostpur, where the incident took place. Police have detained two others for questioning — Babloo belonging to Faridabad and Naresh of Bathinda.
A statement issued by the UP Information Department said Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav would be meeting the victims and had directed “effective action” in the matter. Seven police officials had been suspended till Sunday evening. SSP Bulandshahr Vaibha Krishna, Additional Superintendent of Police Ram Mohan Singh, Circle Officer Himanshu Gaurav, SHO of the local Kotwali Dehat Police Station Ram Sain Singh, highway police outpost sub-inspector Pramod Kumar, highway patrolling in-charge Sub-Inspector Rushtom and Constable Anurag Yadav.
DGP Javed Ahmed, who visited the crime scene, while sharing details of the incident, said “Late Saturday night, the heinous crime took place. Post this, one of their family member reported the matter to police and then the officers from the nearby police station reached the spot. The medical examination of the victims has been conducted and evidence has been collected from the crime scene.
Rubbishing the fact, that there had been delay by police in handling the matter, Ahmad said, “The SSP came to know about the incident around 5.30 am and within 10-15 minutes, he had reached the crime scene.”
As the state assertively condones the incident, the officials are trying their level best to investigate the case, we hope that justice will be served and the culprits will receive no mercy from the UP government and Akhilesh Yadav.
