Getting India’s longest greenfield expressway built in just 22 months is a significant achievement of Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh. The Agra Lucknow expressway is all set to have a grand launch today by honourable chief minister Akhilesh Yadav.
Agra Lucknow expressway is a 302 km access controlled expressway constructed by Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority to reduce traffic congestion and carbon footprint in the state. The expressway will connect the state capital with Agra and further to the national capital. Let’s find out how this longest greenfield expressway will become a sign of modern Uttar Pradesh:
To keep pace with the forthcoming economic development in the state, the expressway has been built on Public-Private partnership model and has a state-of-the-art traffic management system. Several establishments like kisan mandis, service roads, under passes, rest houses, petrol pumps and restaurants have been also established along the expressway.
Agra-Lucknow expressway will offer better connectivity between Lucknow and Western Uttar Pradesh through a fast corridor. The six-lane expressway is expandable to eight lanes in future and will reduce the travel time from 6 hours to merely 3:30 hours. Tourists are certainly going to love the convenience of this new road and those who have made the trip on the older route will appreciate the difference for sure.
The expressway sends a message about the unique process of land acquisition which did not see a single protest at a time. It has been made upon brilliant agricultural formula. The expressways and industrial development authority of the state purchased the land and paid four times the circle rates to the land owners in rural areas and twice the circle rates in urban areas.
