Agra, has been immortalized as the ‘City of The Taj’. Agra’s Taj Mahal represents the culmination of Mughal architecture in all its aesthetic delights. This white mausoleum is considered to be the greatest architectural achievement in the whole range of Indo-Islamic architecture.
With an aim to redevelop Agra as a modern city and a major centre for tourism, the Uttar Pradesh government under the dynamic leadership of Akhilesh Yadav has decided to transform the city.
‘Tajganj Redevelopment’ is a huge project initiated by the government of Akhilesh Yadav in Uttar Pradesh with an aim to re-develop areas surrounding the Taj. Under this project, several areas and slums in Agra have been spruced up.
A 23 km inner ring road has been constructed that will solve city’s traffic problems to a large extent. A huge theme park spread over 1,000 acres of land has also been planned.

All New ‘Walk to Taj’
Come, walk along the pathway to Taj and wayfinding stones guiding your way. Stories of Mughal era carved in stones have been placed across the streets. East, Within the area of 500 metres of the Taj, cobblestones have been fixed to give the roads a huge makeover. The streets have been decorated with beautiful street furniture and lights reminding us of the Mughal architecture and designs.
West and South gates have also been transformed completely. Equipped with modern entertainment facilities, the parks will now be taking mehmaan nawazi of tourists to the next level.
With all the enhanced amenities, the visit of the tourists to Agra will become more memorable. Special focus has also been given on tightening the security and surveillance set up. For this, Agra has a special police command sub-centre that works 24×7, 7 days a week. UP 100 vehicles have also been deployed in the city for round-the-clock safety and security of tourists and residents alike. This facility can also be accessed through the UP 100 App.
