Getting India’s longest greenfield expressway built in just two years is a signal achievement of Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has delivered on his promises to bring development in the state. Roads, expressway, two metro rails systems nearing completion, power plants, speciality hospitals, HCL IT-City and other projects are symbols of the state’s transformation.
The 302km access controlled Agra-Lucknow expressway will not only help farmers move their agricultural, milk and horticultural products to a larger market but also expedite industrialization of the districts through which it passes. Here are some amazing facts about Agra-Lucknow expressway:
Operational this October
The state government has given green signal to the inaugural of Agra-Lucknow expressway this October. The expressway has been constructed in five phases and 90% of the inner ring-road is complete. Construction of a bridge over Yamuna and a railway overbridge is expected to be completed by September this year.
Bollywood Star Hrithik Roshan to Inaugurate the Expressway
When Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan arrives the Agra-Lucknow expressway this October, with helicopters hovering above, it won’t be for his next action movie. Instead, he will be accompanying Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav as they inaugurate India’s longest greenfield expressway, built in record two years.
Six-Lane Expressway, Expandable to Eight Lanes
Every structure on the Agra-Lucknow expressway is six- lane which is expandable to eight-lanes and so-on in future. To fast-track the construction for the first time in India, Samajwadi Party government precast eight lane bridges and fixed atop pillars which have been built simultaneously on the river bed. Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority chief executive officer Navneet Sehgal confirmed that the structures would be widened through a cabinet decision.
IAF Jets Soon to Land on the Expressway
On expressway, a 3km stretch will be used by Indian Air Force for emergency landings. The landing strip segment near Agra has been built to allow military planes to use it. Two IAF jets are set to land on it at the October inaugural.
Crucial Land Acquisition Successfully Earned
The unique process of land acquisition of expressway, did not see a single protest at a time. UPEIDA purchased almost 3127 hectares of land without a murmur of dissent and paid four times the circle rates (CR) to the land owners in rural areas and twice the CR in urban parts, as purchase cost.
New Establishments on E-Way
Soon the expressway will have a State-of-the-Art traffic management system, for which Uttar Pradesh Cabinet is likely to install the most advanced system to manage traffic on the way. Once the expressway is complete, CM Akhilesh Yadav will pass the proposals for leasing out of tourism department’s hotels and motels to private operators; setting up of a state university in Ballia; a skill development institute in Lucknow and increasing production capacity of sugar mills etc.
Moreover, two farm mandis, a logistics hub, an IT city and a residential town are planned to be built along the expressway. Many big and small business zones will also come on the way.
Uttar Hamara believes that the tourists will love the convenience of this new road and those who have made the trip on the older route will appreciate the difference for sure!
