The youngest Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav completes his fourth year in office on Tuesday, March 15, 2016. Born on July 1, 1973, Akhilesh assumed the office as CM of Uttar Pradesh, at the age of 38, on March 15, 2012. On this occasion, he shared a picture of him, along-with his wife Dimple Yadav and daughters. One of his daughters was cutting the cake inside his office.
In last four years, Akhilesh-led Samajwadi Party which believes in creating a socialist society achieved a lot on various fronts. As part of its government’s highlights, Akhilesh-led UP government has worked to improve poverty alleviation, providing financial aid to girls and farmers, employment opportunities for youth masses and attracting huge investments for the state.
As part of celebrations of successful completion of four years of his tenure, CM Akhilesh announced projects for construction of power sub-stations across the state worth over Rs 3,712 crores. He also launched “Samajwadi Sugandh” (the fragrance of socialism)–a pack of four perfume bottles–to mark his government’s four years in office. “Each bottle of perfume captures the fragrance of four different cities — Agra, Lucknow, Banaras and Kannauj,” Mr Yadav said. “Music was always a part of Socialism, now it has got fragrance,” he added.
Claiming that a lot of work was done for improving the power scenario in the state, Yadav ensured that rural areas will get 14-16 hours power supply and urban areas will receive electricity 20 to 24 hours from today. State government has also announced that metro cities now will get round the clock electricity. Talking about law and order he said, “Dial 100 will improve the situation.”
As part of the ‘Clean UP, Green UP initiative’ on Nov 7, 2015, Uttar Pradesh achieved a feat of planting 10 lakh saplings on the same day, for which it made a place in Guinness Book of World Records.
To inculcate the feeling of “Unity, Harmony and Team Work”, Akhilesh Yadav wants government primary and upper primary schools as well as Kasturba Gandhi Balika schools to celebrate birthdays of students in Uttar Pradesh. Schools have been instructed that no money should be collected from students. A direction in this regard has been issued by Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan to all divisional commissioners and district magistrates across the state.
A new bench of Allahabad High Court spread over 40.2 acres has been opened in Lucknow, Gomtinagar on March 19. Speaking at the inauguration of the new red and pink sandstone building of the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court CM Akhilesh Yadav listed the efforts undertaken by his government in providing better facilities for the welfare of lawyers.
Two days ago, the fifth Annual Metro Rail Summit, 2016 has awarded Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) the ‘Best Metro for Excellence in Innovative Designs’. Lucknow Metro has already been appreciated for its fast pace construction on about 8.5 km stretch of priority section from Transport Nagar to Charbagh. LMRC aims to run its first metro-rail In Lucknow before December 2016.
