The faces of the newly formed alliance between Samajwadi Party and Congress, once again came together for a road show on Sunday. In lieu, of the upcoming General Assembly Elections in Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav addressed a rally in Unnao, where he proved his mettle, sense of humor, and the fact that he is a veteran leader who cannot be taken lightly.
At the event, reacting to PM Modi’s comparison of UP state politicians to a ‘SCAM’- referring to Samajwadi Party, Congress, Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati; he gave a befitting reply. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said, “Scam se desh ko bachana hai. We need to save our Country from Amit Shah and Modi.”
Narendra Modi’s statement targeting the opposition also received a lot of backslash from other parties mentioned. Congress spokesperson Tom Vadakkan said, “We will tell you what ‘Scam’ means in Hindi – it is ‘satta bhogi, kapti dhongi Amit Shah Modi’. Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah are enjoying the government’s power and fooling citizens cunningly. Instead of addressing what the roadmap is, we hear him (Modi) speak on abbreviations. He is extremely worried because he has realized the faults what demonetisation has done across the country.”
Moving ahead, Akhilesh Yadav said, “The results of Akhilesh-Rahul alliance will be infront of the people on 11th March, after the counting of voting polls. The people of Uttar Pradesh are happy with the Samajwadi Party-Congress friendship and this will drive ahead the ‘cycle’ with more force. Now that we also have Congress’ hand, the direction and speed will be just right.”
The much loved People’s CM also spoke about the development projects completed by Samajwadi Party in the last five years. And on the other hand spoke about Narendra Modi’s failed demonetization. He said, “We will continue the registration for Samajwadi Smart Phone Yojna so that more and more people can connect with each other and everyone gets to be heard. The free laptop distributed by us will help the youth to migrate towards ‘cashless economy’ and not note ban.”
Akhilesh Yadav also made a subtle remark on BSP’s election symbol and said, “Imagine what would happen if you let an elephant enter your house. It would definitely cause commotion. Samajwadi Party believes in giving money for the development work and not in taking money. We will do something big, in the coming five years.”
Unnao and Kanpur has always been Samajwadi Party’s winning seats. This was clear in the excitement seen in the people. There were lakhs of people following the rally from Unnao to Kanpur, where Akhilesh Yadav was joined by Rahul Gandhi for a joint presentation.
