 Science has invaded every branch of modern life and technology happens when there is advancement in science. And for development to happen, science and technology must go hand in hand.   

Our Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav understands this well and has recently honoured the eminent personalities from science and technology department in the state. Two days back, Uttar Pradesh government organised a function to honour 56 personalities working as scientists, doctors, teachers, and Sanskrit scholars at CM’s residence.

Miniature scientific models developed by young minds for effective disaster management, producing electricity through coal ash, and modern wheels for tractors to save time and fuel of farmers drew Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s appreciation and he gave ‘Young Scientist Award’ to four students for their innovative ideas at the function.

With a view to take Science and Technology to rural areas, a student from BNSD Shiksha Niketan – Siddhartha Gupta presented his scientific innovation of a modern tractor for farmers.

“In traditional tractors, six blade cultivators are attached for tilling the soil while in my prototype model I have used hydraulic tires in the tractor with 18 blades that will save the farmer’s time and fuel,” said Siddhartha.

Another young scientist Suryank Dikshit lamented on how the Uttarakhand disaster took so many lives.

“I have designed a water level indicator with alarm clock for dams to alert about disasters like Uttarakhand,” said Suryank.


Hello Young Scientist App

Akhilesh Yadav also launched ‘Hello Young Scientist App’ for promoting the interest of students in Science. The app has been prepared by Council of Science and Technology (CST), Uttar Pradesh to sensitize young minds towards modern science and technology. Unlike other quizzing mobile applications in the play store, ‘Hello Young Scientist’ is the official app of the CST. The app would be made available on Android, Windows, and iOS platforms. It would be used by all the students and have questionnaires related to science.

S.M. Prasad – Joint Director CST, Department of Science and Technology said, “The app has most authentic information and quizzes that will help young minds learn about current affairs, making them aware of the latest technology.”

Highlighting the achievements made by the award receivers, Mr. Akhilesh Yadav said that people have got benefited by their experiences and work done in the respective fields. He said, “These rewards would not just motivate the achievers but also other people to do outstanding work and achieve success in any field to get honoured.” He added that his government is committed to improve the standard of education in Uttar Pradesh.
