Akhilesh Yadav marked a great change in the history of politics when he came to power in 2012, as the youngest Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. It signified that the youth have taken the responsibility to make the state a better one. His agenda for infrastructure development and rural development in Uttar Pradesh was a breath of fresh air and promised everyone of a brighter future.

Four years later, the targets have been met and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has demonstrated that he truly is the agent of change, which Uttar Pradesh Government needed, for a while now. Although there are multiple reasons why Uttar Pradesh needs Akhilesh Yadav, like his initiatives for enhancing economic condition of the state, providing exceptional education, phenomenal development in the health care sector, here are the top 10:
1. Development in Health Sector
The last few years Uttar Pradesh has seen immense growth in the medical sector in terms of facilities, administration and infrastructure. Uttar Pradesh Government under Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has ensured that every single person is healthy and can afford medication or treatment in the state.
From increasing the number of seats across research and other medical fields to give free treatment for incurable diseases to providing free medication, there has been a huge leap in the health care sector. 102 and 108 Samajwadi Ambulance Sewa has been a lifeline for many and has helped more than 1.5 crore people in the state alone.
2. Foreign Investments
Some of the big names have invested in Uttar Pradesh for rural and infrastructure development in Uttar Pradesh in the last few years. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has come a long way in giving the state a makeover. This can be illustrated in the MoUs signed in the business meet alone in Mumbai which were worth Rs. 33,000 crore. AMUL, HCL, and Bin Zayed Group are amongst the many other investors who have invested in the state.
3. Lucknow Metro
Quick infrastructure development in the state needed a smart travelling option for the people. Hence, the project of Lucknow Metro was started by the Uttar Pradesh Government under Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.
The phase one of the project is nearing completion and people are looking forward to it. This is India’s fastest and cheapest metro construction.
4. Employment Opportunities
Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has created multiple job opportunities for the youth of the state. There are a number of skill development centres in the state which give vocational training to the people. An online portal called SewaYojan has been introduced by the Uttar Pradesh Government to connect the unemployed with private and government job opportunities. In May 2016, they also organized a Mega Job Fair which had more than 50 companies recruiting the youth from the state. That is not all, Lucknow, can now boast of an IT City where HCL trains the youth and make them job ready.
5. Initiatives for Bundelkhand
No other chief minister in the past has done for Bundelkhand as much as Akhilesh Yadav. He distributed free ration to all the families and has instructed the officials to do so will the conditions don’t improve. More than 5000 Mark 2 hand pumps have been installed. Water tankers have been sent to the region along with restoration of natural water bodies. Solar water cycles have also been installed in the region to produce potable water. These rural development schemes will help the entire state to grow.
6. Uttar Pradesh Tourism
Tourism has taken a huge leap under Akhilesh Yadav’s Uttar Pradesh Government. He has initiated Uttar Pradesh Travel Mart, an annual event to promote the state’s potential. Eco-tourism has been given a lift by digitalising all the processes. Wildlife sanctuaries and Lion Safari in Etawah attract more tourists than ever before. Every year the state sees a Car Rally and now they can also enjoy Tourism Day on 14th February. 7. Steps taken to improve law and order
1090 Women Powerline is a 24×7 toll free number for the women of the state. It has been internationally appreciated and has served as a role model for the rest of the country. Uttar Pradesh government under chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has launched an app for quick criminal tracking and numerically coded the autos to provide safety to the residents. Noida is now home to a cyber-cell which can track any miscreant on the internet. The police stations and important places are now covered by CCTVs and Dial 100 has been established to provide quick help.
8. Power Efficient Solutions for #ElectrifyingUP
The state has witnessed power efficient solutions to produce clean electricity. For the same, the Uttar Pradesh government has tied up with multiple MNCs to provide electricity to each one by the end of 2016. Lucknow also saw a Mini Grid Conclave in the state capital. Under Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, the state has also made history by coming up with the policy on solar power grids.
9. Infrastructure Development
Infrastructure development has been the highlight of the Akhilesh Yadav-led Uttar Pradesh Government in the last four years. They have brought together cities, towns, and villages. Lucknow-Agra Expressway, Samajwadi Purvanchal Expressway, Lucknow-Azamgarh-Baliya Samajwadi Highway will prove to be a boon to common man. Apart from these, new colleges, farmer markets, and start up policies have given new hopes to the old and young alike.
10. Rural Development
Akhilesh Yadav, the young chief minister has relentlessly worked for rural development in the state. Kamdhenu Yojna is one of the few policies initiated by him to uplift the dairy sector. He has improved the state’s economy by Samajwadi Pension Plan and Free Irrigation Scheme which have helped in rural development. The houses in rural areas have been provided with solar lights. Apart from that, 100 smart schools have been set up as a pilot project in rural areas.
